Shopping Shotguns
A satirical Black Friday shopping simulator
The concept of Shopping Shotguns began as a joke that evolved into a fully realized, satirical survival-horror game. This project plunges the player into a dystopian supermarket where the simple act of grocery shopping becomes a high-stakes race against the clock. The player must navigate the aisles to secure a critical supply list while fending off waves of desperate, hostile Feral Shoppers. My role involved designing the core systems and mechanics, including the enemy AI archetypes (The Bruiser, The Default, and The Annoying Child), and establishing the challenging win and loss conditions that define this frantic, resource-scarce experience.

Design
Created win and loss conditions and other design documentation for the 3 types of enemy characters found in the game.

Timer
The game’s timer starts at 1:30 at the start of the game, and at every pick up it goes up by 30 seconds(can be changed based on play tests)

Win Condition
If the player is successful in collecting all the items on their shopping list within the given time, they will win the game
It is crucial for the player to also navigate to the cash register within the given time to win the game
Death

Lose Condition
The player starts off at 9 heats. The damage they receive from an enemy varies from enemy to enemy, and the player also gains hearts on item pickup.

​Enemy Design
The Bruiser: Has a movement speed of 0.4x, does 3 damage per hit, and can hit every 5 seconds.
The Default: Has a movement speed of 0.8x, does 1 damage per hit, and can hit every 3 seconds.
The Annoying Child: Has a movement speed of 1.2x, does 1 damage per hit, and can hit every 10 seconds.
The game is based in a supermarket, where the player has to dodge zombie-like enemies. To make this environment I took references from similar top-down games and supermarkets around the US.
